Ida "Clastie" Eaves, 93, of Peoria, passed away at 6:48 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at home, with her loving family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, with the Rev. Gene Mace officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Entombment will be at American Mausoleum in Peoria.
Clastie was born on December 14, 1920 in Difficult, TN, a daughter of Felix Green and Ora Mae (Russell) Duke. She married Charles L. Eaves in Franklin, KY on October 28, 1945. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1996 in Peoria.
Waiting for her in Heaven are her parents, her husband of fifty years, Charles; her precious granddaughter, Amy Melissa Asher; four brothers, Gore, Raymond, Ernest and Lawrence Duke; four sisters, Cleopes Mitchell, Virginia Sims, Maggie Stewart and Florence Hodge; and five nephews. What a wonderful reunion.
Surviving are her loving daughter Diana Faye and son-in-law Charles Asher of Peoria; beloved granddaughter, Amber Marie Asher of Peoria; honorary grandson, Kee Wilson of Phoenix, AZ; many wonderful nieces and nephews, who were like her own children, and many grand nieces and nephews.
She worked for Plastic Fabricators in Tennessee making parts for the war efforts in World War II.  She was also employed as a property manager by Sheridan Village Realty in Peoria for many years. Before retiring, she worked in home health care for several years, where she made many wonderful friends.
Clastie loved music, especially southern gospel. Her close and loving family enjoyed getting together to sing and play music. She and her sister, Maggie, were well known in their hometown as the Edenwold Songbirds.
She loved working in her yard, mowing, taking care of her flower gardens, well into her 80's. She was a hard worker, but what she cared about most was her family. She loved having all of her brothers and sisters visit and she would cook great meals for everyone and tell great stories about the good old days in Tennessee. Her family loved these stories and will hold them in their hearts and minds forever. She was a great treasure to everyone and we won't be the same without her.
The family would like to thank those who were there for them during this difficult time, especially Kathy, Sid, Christy, Ronald, Debby, Betty, Claude, Harold, Peggy and Jackie. Also dear to Clastie are Phyllis, Sandie, Doug, Eric, Ken and Terri. She received wonderful care from Marilyn, with UnityPoint Methodist Hospice, and the family appreciates everything she did.
Memorial contributions may be made in Clastie’s memory to UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospice or her church, University United Methodist.

Ryan Stewart An amazing woman January 27, 2014
Wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to you all. I wish I could be there for everyone.  I know its sad bc shes gone but we should rejoice for where she is. She will be missed, but knowing where she is and who she is with should outweigh any sadness. She was an unbelievably strong and amazing woman who was one of the last of a great generation. She is now where she belongs and happier than ever .
Vicki Winn so sorry January 26, 2014
Dear Diane and Chuck - just wanted to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your mom. I'm not sure if you remember me, I am the home health speech pathologist who saw your mom. I still have the basket of flowers that she gave me when we were ready to end therapy. She was a treasure, I know your memories of her and her life will see you through this sad time.
I think of Clastie occasionally, something will come up that reminds me of her, very often it is when I am driving up Knoxville and pass the turn off to her house. Any thought of her always brings a smile to my face. It was an honor and pleasure to meet her and get to know her. If we could all live our lives in her style the world would be better for it.
    take care
